Fombe, the village where Andrew lives is trapped in a cycle of floods and droughts. The harvest failed so he couldn't provide enough food for his family.
So he went to the city to find work. In the city, Andrew’s work in a factory earned him less than £3 a week – just about enough to keep food in his family’s stomachs.
He has now come home to plant and wait for a harvest. The initial rains have come and he is still waiting to ensure the rains are constant and helpful to his harvest.

He is not sure when the harvest will be, or if it's already taken place.
We can’t make the sand on Andrew’s land disappear overnight. The floods and droughts won't suddenly cease. But we can and will do much to stop this increasingly unpredictable climate.
Tearfund is working through local churches providing drought-resistant crops, advice on irrigation and flood defences for Andrew’s family and many others.
Tearfund also works to call for global action to tackle climate change.
