Trade

Trade has the potential to lift millions of people out of poverty. But unjust global trading systems, backed by governments of rich countries, are forcing millions of people into poverty and causing harm to the environment.

Since 2003, Tearfund has been campaigning on trade, focusing on the responsibility we have as consumers and campaigners to ensure that trade becomes part of the solution to poverty, not one of its root causes. Click here for the story of the campaign.

This year we will be scaling back our campaigning on trade, but will continue to monitoring progress on the outstanding issues within key trade negotiations and continue to encourage prayer and action. Click here for more.

TAKE ACTION - In May, MEPs have an opportunity to call for fairer trade deals before it’s too late. Click here to write to your MEP.
