There’s lots to pray for in 2008 – here’s news of some of the major events to get you started.
Climate Change Bill
Two is the magic number. That’s 2ºC, the average global temperature rise which science tells us must not be exceeded if we’re to avoid catastrophic change in climate.
Our government is introducing a Climate Change Bill to help cut the UK’s emissions. But if we’re to play our part in keeping temperature rises below 2ºC, the Bill will need to be much stronger than current proposals. It may well be law by the summer, so there’s no time to lose. Please pray that our government will be bold.

Hope for Planet Earth
A multimedia presentation exploring the science behind climate change from a Christian perspective went on tour earlier this year, inspiring thousands of Christians across the nation.
G8 2008
The annual talkfest of world leaders took place in Japan from 7 to 9 July, with health, Africa and climate change on the agenda. Read our response to the summit and watch our video blog.
COP Poland
The UN climate change summit heads to Poland in December. This time it really is crucial. The Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012, so a replacement must be agreed in Poland to ensure there isn’t a gap between the two treaties. Please pray for the negotiating processes which will be ongoing throughout the year.
