Lent, 2008. What are you giving up?
Come on! You've got ten seconds to decide.
What's it going to be?
Truth is, you probably haven't thought about it. What to give up for Lent, or whether to give anything up at all is probably the last thing on your mind. But here's an idea you've got some time to think about.
The Carbon Fast was launched last year by the Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones, who is also Vice-President of Tearfund. It works like this: every day for 40 days you get a new action point to help you reduce your emissions of carbon dioxide. It involves a level of self-sacrifice, which helps you focus on Jesus' sacrifice in the lead-up to Easter, but it also sends a powerful signal to the government about the importance of our shared carbon footprint and the impact it's having on our climate.
