Uganda

Termed the ‘Pearl of Africa’ by Winston Churchill, Uganda’s rich resources promised a bright future when independence was won in 1962. However, a nightmare period of brutal dictatorship and inter-ethnic violence ensued. 

Over the past two decades the country has experienced a semblance of peace and economic growth. Conflict in the north of the country, however, has become one of the world’s forgotten wars.
