At Tearfund we believe in faith in action and that a commitment to serving the needs of the community around you is at the heart of the gospel, wherever you happen to be.

We work to inspire the church to transform communities. We're here to help you mobilise your church to work with poor communities to bring transformation. We offer a number of ways to support you church on the journey. Read on to learn more.

Community Mission Partnership

Community Mission is a partnership started by Tearfund and Livability, formerly the Shaftesbury Society.

Both organisations have decades of experience of working alongside people affected by poverty, and pursuing justice in the UK and across the world and both are passionate about the unique role that the local church plays in continuing Jesus’ mission to bring good news to the poor.

We've come together in partnership to help churches and Christian groups grapple with issues of injustice and poverty, and see how they are intrinsic to a biblical understanding of mission. Find out how your church can engage with this work here.

Just People?

This six-week interactive course brings together down-to-earth theology, reflection, inspiration and experience with practical exercises. It will help your church explore issues of justice and poverty and think practically about how they can respond effectively as an integral part of their mission. A highlight of the course is a ‘day of action’ organised by the course participants inspired by what they have been exploring.  Find out more here.

Discovery

Discovery is a resource pack that offers a complete toolkit to mobilise your church for community action. Set out in six interactive and engaging sessions, including a CD-Rom and leader's guide, it gives you the flexibility to present a course in your own way that will inspire your church for justice. We are Christians passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives - overcoming global poverty.
So our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
