You don’t have to be a billionaire or have a bank account to give to Tearfund. There’s no amount too small to give and there’s no age that’s too young to be a Tearfund supporter.
That’s why a significant number of Tearfund supporters are teenagers and children. From DJ events, fashion shows and home-made cards’ sales to sponsored swims, fasting from mobile phones and piggy-bank collections, young supporters frequently put the fun back into fundraising.
Of course, you don’t have to do something big to give. Young supporters often send pocket or allowance money they’ve saved or sacrificially given. When you calculate the money given to Teafund as a percentage of their total ‘income’, it’s a considerable amount!
It’s no surprise, then, that Tearfund values its young supporters. We have a magazine, Activ1st, especially for teenagers and also a Youth website (www.tearfund.org/youth). These resources give young supporters information about what their money’s achieving, as well as inspiration and encouragement to live a full Christian lifestyle.
Giving to Tearfund isn’t about the number of noughts on the figure on the cheque. It’s about a lifestyle of caring for the poor. We’re proud to count children and teenagers amongst our committed supporters, who make life-changing work around the world possible.
