An efficient people person is sought to support the critical work of the field team in Tearfund’s Disaster Management Programme in the Darfur region, North Sudan. Key responsibilities include providing advice, assistance and encouragement to support security and health and safety management in all activities in Tearfund’s Darfur programme. Within this, specific responsibilities are to ensure regular training in safety and security procedures, coordinating security information and keeping key security documents up to date. You must be able to prioritise work in a fast-moving environment and work well under pressure. You must be a strong team player with good communication skills, have a good cross-cultural awareness and a genuine heart for the poor, and be prepared to live in potentially insecure conditions. ED DAEIN, DARFUR - FOOD SECURITY PROJECT MANAGER
To start ASAP for initial contract of 12 months
An experienced food security practitioner is sought to become part of the area management team in Ed Daein as part of Tearfund’s Disaster Management Programme, in the Darfur region, North Sudan.
Key responsibilities will include overall coordination, management and implementation of food security project activities. This will involve undertaking participatory needs, vulnerability and capacities assessments, designing appropriate project interventions, preparing project proposals, implementing plans and budgets, and project monitoring, evaluating and reporting.

Are you an experienced leader with demonstrable relief experience and a good understanding of current relief and development issues? If so, we are currently seeking such an experienced manager to, in conjunction with the Programme Director and UK Operations Manager, be responsible for the implementation, management and development of the country programme and strategy within the mandate of Tearfund’s Disaster Management Team. Your responsibilities will include: supporting the Programme Director in developing & implementing country strategy and programme framework, and ensuring field level understanding in DRC of the purpose and direction of projects, initiating and undertaking needs assessments for programme continuation and expansion in DRC, and overseeing programme budgets, funding & resources. You will also be responsible for representing Tearfund with the Government bodies, other NGOs and partners. The post is based in Bukavu/Uvira and includes regular travel to field sites. Applicants must have good spoken and written French although Swahili speakers would be considered for highly experienced candidates. An experienced manager is sought to manage, in liaison with the Programme Director, the area team based in Baraka, DRC. The successful candidate will have relevant relief experience plus proven management and leadership skills, coupled with experience in project design management, finance, strategic planning. Responsibilities include regular communication with other agencies, partner organisations, and with the Programme Director, the writing of project reports to relevant donors and monthly written reports on all field activities. Development of the programme in the project site in Baraka, in conjunction with the team and other organizations is part of the remit, and therefore the postholder will possess the ability to drive and develop a programme. Ability to work in insecure environments without direct supervision to a tight timeframe is essential. French and or Swahili is essential. Country Representative - Chad
Location of Post: Nd’jamena, Chad
Could you design and implement an effective strategy for Chad for Tearfund acting as a Country Representative? The role involves strategic planning; community management of a partner portfolio; resource management; leadership and staff development; along with ensuring all aspects of in-country security and health and safety.
You will have substantial proven experience in community development, predominantly based in a developing country; strategic planning and thinking; leadership; project management and evaluation; and budget management. Proven ability in West Africa region is essential, with Chad experience desirable. You will have oral and written proficiency in French and be fluent and competent in written and spoken English. You will possess good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
The nature of the work will require the successful candidate to apply for a Police / Criminal Records check.
