During the last period of Lent hundreds of you took part in a Carbon fast throughout the forty days as a way of focussing on the energy you used. Many of you made some small changes that hopefully have stayed with you.
But like a dog isn't just for Christmas, fasting isn't just for Lent, so we've kept the Carbon fast available here for you to try - at any time of the year!
'Traditionally people have given up things for Lent. Last year in the Diocese of Liverpool many parishes took part in a Carbon Fast. Through it we focused on God's earth and its poorest people in whom, Jesus said, we were to find him. This year in Lent we invite you to join us in a Carbon Fast.'
The Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool
Climate change is not an opinion or a contentious notion. It is a fact. Click here to download the 40 actions for every day of the fast and we’ll deliver 40 of the most compelling pieces of evidence to prove it. (PDF, 78K).
Our treatment of the planet and its people reveals something about our respect for the world God has given us. Join us in the Carbon Fast as we bring a little bit more of God's Kingdom to earth.
A catastrophically changed climate is not inevitable. Our actions can – and will - make the difference. Our Carbon Fast will show you how. Meanwhile:
- You can give to our work to help the world's poorest communities adapt to climate change.
- You can act for justice by declaring your concern about the impact climate change is having on poor communities.
