In northern Pakistan, some 34,000 people made homeless by last October's earthquake have been provided with transitional shelter kits to help them survive the winter.
Harsh winter
Earlier-than-usual snowfalls back in December in areas like the Allai Valley, North West Frontier Province, made it difficult for agencies to reach people in rural areas. But by working with the army and Pakistan's Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority, Tearfund partner Shelter Now International (SNI) is continuing to provide vital support to communities.
Please pray
Pray for groups more vulnerable to freezing conditions and snow such as elderly people, children and women. Access to them is often made more difficult by cultural attitudes.
'Winter is likely to be ongoing until March in northern Pakistan,' says Sarah Dodd, Tearfund's Disaster Management Officer for the region. Please pray for SNI as they distribute shelter kits to those who need them.
