Millions at risk in Congo after 10 year war

Up to 2 million people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are extremely vulnerable as they struggle to recover from a decade of devastating war.

Beatrice Nyiranjuti is among them. Last autumn she saw her husband killed by rebels who've been fighting government forces. Heavily pregnant, Beatrice took her children and fled. Beatrice went home when fighting stopped but contracted malaria and her kids became ill too.

Medicines from Tearfund partner Heal Africa saw her recover and she's since given birth to a girl called Esperance. She's rebuilding her life but getting regular food is a problem as is paying for school fees.

With 20 years experience in DRC, Tearfund is looking to increase its physical and spiritual support for people like Beatrice through our network of church-based partners and relief teams.

Please pray for DRC's people and give what you can to our crisis appeal. It's the most vulnerable who are hit hardest by the global economic downturn - your help will be especially appreciated today.
