Exceeding all expectations, 225,000 people turned out to walk for justice in Edinburgh. The marching crowds circled the historic city centre, forming a huge white human band, splashed with colourful banners.
The media and world leaders couldn’t miss our message:
WE BELIEVE it’s time for action, time to Make Poverty History.
Rebekah Perkins, a student from Liverpool University says, 'It's incredible - it's great to be a part of it. It's hard to ignore so many people! Whenever you turn on the TV it's all people are talking about.'
'When the people speak in these numbers, people who are peaceful and just want to say give the poor a chance, the politicians are bound to listen. It's a wonderful atmosphere, more like a party more than a demonstration and everyone's just having a great day.' Graham Fairbairn, acting Tearfund General Director, shows off his Scottish roots in Edinburgh.

Pop star Daniel Bedingfield (third from left) helps to lead the marchers. ‘I see this as a responsible use of the profile God has given me. We can use the power of celebrity for something good.’
‘History will judge our leaders by the decisions they make in the coming weeks,’ said Nelson Mandela.
Shout it loud.
The rally brought people of all faiths and none together to call for justice. Tearfund supporters brought a distinctively Christian voice…
