The Tearcraft fairtrade catalogue for 2003 has been launched. Packed with inspirational gift ideas, each product represents hope and livelihoods for craft workers in some of the world's poorest communities
The skilled artisans who hand-craft each individual item are not only paid a fair price for their wares; they are also encouraged and actively supported by Tearcraft, the fair trade arm of Christian relief and development agency, Tearfund.
The challenge of finding unique and beautiful presents is made easy with this new catalogue - it really is a showcase for the skills of craftsmen and women around the world - from Peru or Argentina, to South Africa, India or Thailand. The many highlights from this year include:
- Kitchen and dining ware – from minimalist storage jars or wine goblets made from recycled stainless steel, through to rubberwood chopping boards or decorative table linen
- Jewellery and accessories – nine pages to chose from, from the rich and rare to the cool and exotic
- Christmas cards and a wealth of decorations, including beautiful hand painted nativity sets – from traditional to modern
- Stationery, cards and note books and accessories for the home – including handmade papers using fibres such as hemp, cotton, coconut and pineapple
- Toys for the very young – and even the not so young, as well as musical instruments from around the globe
Every taste and budget is catered for, from contemporary through traditional to funky ethnic, with quality gift ideas for the home and office. For further information on Tearcraft or to place an order:
