G20 Finance Ministers meeting in London this weekend tackled vital financial issues, but missed a crucial opportunity to make progress on concrete proposals for climate finance.
Laura Webster, Tearfund’s Head of Public Policy says, ‘We’re at a stalemate because we don’t yet have a serious offer of additional public climate finance from rich countries to help developing countries adapt to the effects of climate change, reduce their emissions and protect forests.
‘We should have seen far more progress than this if we’re to get a strong and fair climate deal in Copenhagen this December.’
