Bible teacher and best-selling author Joyce Meyer has this to say of prayer, ‘Prayer is simply communicating with God, and it’s much easier than we think.
‘Religious mindsets complicate prayer with rules, regulations, legalism and obligation. But God wants us to have natural and enjoyable prayer lives.
‘And he intends for prayer to be an integral part of our everyday lives – the easiest thing we do each day.’
We want to encourage you to join Tearfund in prayer from 1-7 March during Global Poverty Prayer Week 2010.
Over seven days, we’re looking to mobilise the church family to pray with One Voice about an end to poverty, to seek God’s heart about our role in making this happen and for his mercy to flow on this suffering world.
Across the UK, the message to join One Voice is going out loud and clear and churches are hearing it.
In Northern Ireland, 400 church leaders attended the Kingdom Come conference where they watched the One Voice DVD and prayed.
In Scotland, 200 Tearfund volunteers and supporters watched the DVD at eight volunteer events and were encouraged to use the One Voice packs, while the Free Church of Scotland is informing all its 80 churches about One Voice.
Tearfund has resources to help you and your church get involved, from sermon notes to prayer reflections from people like Joyce Meyer, Rob Bell and Tim Hughes.
You can also post your prayers on our online prayer wall, simply email onevoice@tearfund.org with your prayer (30 words or less).
• Please pray that many hearts and minds are transformed during this week as we join together in prayer for our world and understand more of God’s heart for the poor.
• Join with Eliada from Tanzania as she prays, ‘Many people in Africa and in the world at large are living in poor conditions. We are asking the global church to pray for communities, for families – so that people may get out of this poverty, that they may glorify God in a better way.’
