Thankfully, the angel's triumphant shout of 'good news for all the earth', is for life, not just for Christmas. So how will you be hitting the headlines in 2007?
The 'good news' that the angels sang of was of course Jesus, God himself coming to earth as a newborn baby. It's a dynamic story that has changed the world.
Now the church is the body of Jesus here on earth. Instead of despairing when we read the news, we should be out there making the news; changing the world rather than accepting the status quo.
As Jesus says, 'You are the salt of the earth.... You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
'Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
'In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.' Matthew 5:13-16
