It’s just over a month since the talking stopped at the Copenhagen climate change talks.
In the end, the summit failed to come up with a strong and fair climate deal which developing countries desperately need.
So what now?
'We now need ambition levels to be massively raised and to move from rhetoric to concrete policy commitments. A legally binding, fair and ambitious deal must be concluded as early as possible in 2010,’ says Tearfund’s Advocacy Director Paul Cook.
That’s why Tearfund will be continuing to campaign and pray and we urge you to join us, especially as we get nearer to the next UN climate summit being held in Mexico later in the year.
• Please continue to pray for countries to work urgently to seal a fair, ambitious and binding global deal on climate change.
• Pray in particular for developed countries to agree to adequate emissions cuts and to provide finance needed to help the poorest people suffering most from climate change.
• Continue to act and pray for a deal to be agreed during the climate talks in Cancun, Mexico this coming December.
