More than 1,100 people have died on the Indonesian island of Sumatra following an earthquake which measured 7.6 on the Richter scale.
Rescuers are searching for survivors amid the ruins of hundreds of buildings that collapsed in the city of Padang, which is about 50 miles from the epicentre.
Power cuts and heavy rain have hampered these efforts and local officials reckon the casualty figures will run into the thousands.
Schools, shops, markets, homes and hospitals have been affected and multi-storey buildings have been reduced to rubble.
Please pray:
• For a speedy response to help those affected by the earthquake.
• For God's comfort for those who are mourning and for those who are injured.
• For the strength and safety of rescuers as they battle tough conditions to reach survivors.
• For no further damage caused by after-shocks.
