Tearfund Inspire trip to Egypt - March 2009

This is a joint trip for volunteers from England and Wales.

This Inspire trip will provide a fantastic opportunity to see Tearfund’s vision in action.

We hope to visit two Tearfund partners in Cairo to see how God is using them to bring transformation to the poorest and most marginalised.

In addition to visiting the partners, there will be a chance for you to do some practical work with them.

You will also have the opportunity to discuss what you experience and pray with others on the tour.

And Tearfund will help equip you to share those stories with churches back home, and to make the most of your experiences in Egypt.

Date: 2 - 15 March 2009 (depending on flights – exact dates to be confirmed)
Price: In the range of £1,200 - £1,350 (final costing will be available nearer the time of the tour)
Orientation: Saturday 31 January
Reunion: Saturday 4 April

West Midlands prayer groups

Prayer is one of the most effective ways of supporting Tearfund's work.

Tearfund prayer groups give you the opportunity to pray with others and will inform and inspire you in your volunteer role.

Some groups are based in churches or house groups, others are attended by people from a number of churches in the area.

We currently have six groups meeting regularly in the West Midlands - but we would like even more!

If you would like to join with others to pray for the work of Tearfund, we can put you in touch with your nearest prayer group leader.

If you would be willing to lead a group we can help you get started and if you are already part of a group that we don't know about, please tell us so that we can support you.

For more information about prayer groups please visit our Prayer Zone.

News from our region

Small task, big difference

Actions that have big consequences don’t always require a lot of effort.

That’s what Alex and Linda Morgan discovered after the East and Midlands Volunteer Conference last year.

They were inspired by the Tearcraft workshop where they learnt about the difference that craft sales make to the lives of the artisans.

They realised that although they couldn’t stock lots of craft items, they could easily give out catalogues and collate orders.

The couple took the plunge and were amazed by the response.

‘We already have £600 of sales, mainly through taking the catalogues to work,’ says Linda. ‘The craft has sold itself and now we’re looking at how we can increase sales even further this year.’
