Tearfund Together study tours

‘It has given me a far bigger picture of the work of God in the world.’

Have you ever considered going overseas and seeing for yourself how God is using local churches to transform poor communities?

Tearfund Together study tours give you a unique opportunity to see first-hand a range of Tearfund-supported projects that are transforming people’s lives. Going on a study tour is a great way to deepen your understanding of integral mission and learn how God is using his church to bring practical help and spiritual hope.

One participant said on their return, ‘Wow, what a trip...  just looking at parts of the video this evening brings back incredible memories of love and humility in action. My feet haven’t touched the ground since I got back.’ While another commented, ‘I found it wonderful to glimpse the work of the partners, hear first-hand of their experiences and problems and to meet and talk to those who benefit.’

Volunteers from Northern Ireland visit a prison in Liberia.

We’re confident that you’ll be inspired by what you see and want to share your experiences with others when you get home. We’ll help you reflect on what you’ve learnt and give you some advice about how to share your stories.

During your time overseas, you'll have the opportunity for times of fellowship, including prayer and Bible study, with other Christians from your region.

See below for information about forthcoming study tours.

Forthcoming study tours

The following study tours are taking place in 2008 and 2009.

Dates and destinations are still to be confirmed, so keep checking the website or contact your regional office for more information:

India - October 2008
This is a joint trip for volunteers from England and Wales.  This study tour will provide a fantastic opportunity to see Tearfund’s vision in action.  We hope to visit three Tearfund partners in Calcutta and Delhi to see how God is using them to bring transformation to the poorest and most marginalised.

You will also have the opportunity to discuss what you experience and pray with others on the tour.  And Tearfund will help equip you to share those stories with churches back home, and to make the most of your experiences in India.

Date: 18th – 31st October 2008 (depending on flights – exact dates to be confirmed)
Price: in the range of £1,550 - £1,750 (final costing will be available nearer the time of the tour)
Orientation: Saturday 13th September
Reunion: Saturday 29th November
