Your lifetime's generosity can continue
A life well lived, marked out by love for God and generosity towards others, will never be forgotten – by God or by those who have been blessed.
For followers of Jesus, what follows death will not be a surprise. It will be a fulfilment. It’s not death that transforms our character – it’s life, and the patterns we have forged in our lives, through Jesus.
At Tearfund we believe that inheriting eternal life, and living in the Kingdom of God, are very much here-and-now activities.
'"Now this is eternal life,"' Jesus said in John 17: '“that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”'
For a Christian, being welcomed home represents a fulfilment. The history we leave behind, the seeds we have sown in our lives, will continue to bear fruit. These God-inspired good works and habits of generosity can continue to restore hope and save lives – even after God has called you home.
As you think through your own bequests, please will you consider allowing Tearfund to use your financial legacy to sustain your lifetime’s legacy of Christian kindness and generosity?
That will mean that good news, material and spiritual, can continue to reach those living in some of the world’s poorest places.
Whether your legacy translates into clean and disease-free water for people without any, or into life-saving medicines for people living with HIV, or whether it becomes emergency provision for those affected by earthquakes or famines, it will be done as a demonstration of the love of God, alongside or through local Christians and churches.
In short, it’s God kingdom being seen on earth – as it is in heaven. And your legacy could play a vital part in sustaining this work.
'For me, leaving money to Tearfund is leaving a real legacy. That money will work onwards forever. To leave it to people who have absolutely nothing is a huge privilege. I haven’t got a lot of money but when I die I’ll be worth a lot more – and can leave more when I’m gone.' Hilary Field, Tearfund Legacy Pledger.
