Ogongora: building hope in the shadow of war

A decade ago Ogongora did not have much to offer the brutal militia leaders of the civil war in Northern Uganda. After all, the name Ogongora means ‘thin’, and the people were too fragile to be much use. Nevertheless the soldiers took whatever they wanted.

Today the militia have gone, but recovery does not happen overnight. Thanks to the faith and leadership of Pastor Joseph and his congregation, the people of Ogongora in eastern Uganda have hope as the church helps them tackle hunger and make the most of the growing seasons. Yet the journey ahead is long and the needs are great and poverty still threatens the lives of many. You can be part of the ongoing transformation - both physical and spiritual.
