Shivnagar: where slaves are set free - completely

Bonded labour may not come with chains, but debt slavery is every bit as hard to escape, and ten years ago this was a village made up entirely of slaves. Yet even when they were set free ten years ago, without education, training or any access to healthcare their future remained bleak.

But Pastor Madan from Tikapur Christian Church refused to abandon the village of Shivnagar, set on the western plains of Nepal. Pastor Madan has worked with the community, in conjunction with Tearfund partner Sagoal, to set up education, food security and healthcare programmes. But bringing freedom where slavery has been in place for generations takes time, commitment and money. Join in the journey and watch the story unfold.
