Job Description 

Job Title:  Transform Volunteer
Group:  Integral Mission Group 
Team:   Transform Team 
Responsible to: Transform Team Leader

Purpose of the team: Transform organises inspiring, challenging trips that enable individuals and groups to go on a discipleship journey, where participants will learn from and be of real service to a community, connected to the local church, and through which they will be transformed by God. Transform’s purpose is to connect those who travel with us to Tearfund.

  • This position offers exciting opportunities, working with the Transform team to mobilise people to travel to our partners. The role will be varied and will involve planning for and being at events (e.g. Soul Survivor & New Wine), administration, promotion and attending orientations. 
  • We’re looking for up to 3 volunteers to work with us for four to eight months, to support the work of the Transform Team. 
  • You will bring creativity and initiative to the task of mobilising people to engage with Tearfund and its partners. 
Main purpose of the job

Your main tasks will include helping the Transform team in delivering and promoting trips as well as managing and developing your other projects as appropriate. Other duties will include: 

  • Planning for Transform to attend numerous festivals
  • Attending numerous festivals with the Transform stand 
  • Developing the Transform stand for 2012
  • Developing opportunities to promote Transform with the youth team and other stakeholders 
  • Planning for and delivering orientations 
  • Administrative and trip tasks
  • Journeying with long term teams on their trips in terms of discipling and cross cultural experience  
What skills and experience should the volunteer have?
  • Experience of short term mission trips is essential
  • Passionate about (ability to articulate) the positive impact short term mission trips have on the global church
  • Flexible team-player who can multi-task 
  • Self motivated with a hunger to learn
  • Creativity and the ability to contribute useful and innovative ideas / suggestions
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
  • Reliable and dedicated
  • Social/digital media knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
About the role: 
The volunteer role will be either: 
  • February to August (7 month placement), or 
  • May to August (4 month placement) 

Time Commitment 
Office hours are 35 hours a week Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch. Transform often has to work flexibly (weekend and evening events) and you would be expected to attend these with the equivalent time off in lieu given. If you are with us for 4 months you would be entitled to 8 days holiday; if you are with us for 8 months 16 days holiday. 

Participation in the spiritual life of Tearfund 

You will be expected to:

  • Attend corporate weekly Staff Prayers on Wednesdays, to hear of Tearfund’s work and to spend time in prayer and worship together
  • Participate in spiritual sessions of prayer and biblical reflection within the Team/Group 
  • Be committed to Tearfund’s missions, values and beliefs statement
  • Be committed to actively working and living in accordance with Tearfund’s Christian beliefs. 
Salary: 
This is a non-salaried position. 
  • Travel expenses up to zones 1-6 will be provided or expenses up to the equivalent if this is non applicable
  • Lunch vouchers or the equivalent expenses are included
