Go MAD in Tanzania is an independent charity registered in the UK. It was formed by people from St John the Evangelist Blackheath, London who have long standing links with Mara, and who wanted to give people from other churches the opportunity of not just visiting the Diocese of Mara but also of getting involved in practical projetcs that make a difference to communities in Tanzania.
The Anglican Diocese of Mara is part of the Anglican Church of Tanzania (ACT). It was created in 1985 on the division of the Diocese of Victoria Nyanza. It covers the administrative region of Mara, which stretches from Lake Victoria in the west to the Serengeti National Park in the east, and from the Tarime highlands bordering Kenya in the north to Mwanza region in the south. Mara Region has a population of 1.4 million and includes the four districts of Tarime, Musoma, Bunda and Serengeti.
Go M.A.D encourages volunteers to aim to fundraise about £300 each. This money will go towards the building projects and resources needed for your team’s ministry. The more you raise the more you can do when you are in Africa!
