Rev Alan McWilliam visits Uganda with Tearfund

Church of Scotland Minister and Chairman of CLAN Gathering, Alan McWilliam visited Uganda with Tearfund in April 2011 to see first-hand our Church and Community Mobilisation work through local partner PAG (Pentecostal Assemblies of God). This church-based programme is transforming thousands of lives in some of the poorest parts of the world.

In a recent article for Life and Work magazine, Alan said,

"Is it possible that Tearfund have found a tool that really is effective in pulling down the roots of poverty in some of the areas of greatest needs within our world?  I think so.
We have all heard the proverb, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life."  What we haven't heard is the next phrase "Change fishermen's mindsets and you transform communities for generations".  This is exactly what the Tearfund partner PAG Uganda (Pentecostal Assemblies of God) has been doing, with incredible results.
Over the last ten years this innovative and visionary denomination has equipped people in 150 communities with the knowledge that God has given them the resources that they need to see their lives and communities transformed for the better forever."
