Church and community mobilisation – the process of awakening the church and mobilising them to work with and support their community – is a passion that drives Pastor Madan to reach out the many communities of former slaves that surround his church, such as Shivnagar.
‘We love them,’ Madan explains. ‘That’s why we are offering more than proclamation of the gospel. God loves us and we love them. Because of God’s love, we are reaching out to Shivnagar. Our intention is not to convert people. Our intention is to love them.’
Trained in community development as well as theology, Madan has a vision to meet the needs of the former slaves of Shivnagar. He wants his church to help the community to help themselves – to release and rely on their own resources. He knows that’s the only way they will be truly set free.
