Haiti

In January 2010, the people of Haiti suffered an earthquake which killed more than 300,000 people and left 1.5 million homeless.

In a matter of seconds, homes, government buildings, schools and hospitals were flattened by the seven magnitude tremor, the worst to affect the Caribbean country in two centuries.

Before the disaster, Haiti was the most impoverished nation in the Western hemisphere which has made the task of rebuilding all the more challenging.

See below how Tearfund and our partners are bringing hope.
