Hope radiates from Ami, despite her traumatic experiences

Worship God and change the world: that’s the challenge from Tearfund’s new resources to mark 200 years since the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.

Freedom remains an elusive dream for millions of people trapped in cruel forms of modern-day slavery.

Together let’s take up the baton from Christian abolitionists such as Wilberforce and Equiano and break the chains of poverty and injustice in our day.

Ami's story is a harrowing one - a girl who was sold into prostitution at the age of 13, then mistreated and used by nearly everyone she turned to for help over the next three years.
And yet today hope radiates from this glowing 21-year-old.  Discover how a life of slavery was transformed.

Tearfund’s unusual new film tells a heart-breaking story based on our work with trafficked girls in India. Can our actions really set people free? Watch the film here.
Download the film script so you can recreate it as a drama in church, or tell stories using our PowerPoint presentations.
Find out about the role that Christians played in the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade, plus more about Tearfund’s work to combat slavery in its different forms today.
Prayer ideas and a session plan for small group study around new worship track How long? written by Al Gordon and performed by Tim Hughes, Mark Beswick and Natalie Phillips.

We are Christians passionate about the local church bringing justice and transforming lives - overcoming global poverty.
So our ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
