AREA COORDINATOR, KANDAHAR based in Kabul, Afghanistan
To start: ASAP for 2 years
An experienced manager is sought to manage, in liaison with the Programme Director, the area team based in Kandahar. This role is Kabul-based requiring regular travel to Kandahar. The projects in Kandahar are being remotely managed so experience of remote working methodologies are required. The successful candidate will have relevant relief experience plus proven management and leadership skills, coupled with experience in project design management, finance and strategic planning. Experience of working in insecure locations is essential.
Experience of other Tearfund partners working in Kandahar and the ability to speak Dari or Pashto would be an advantage.
Responsibilities include needs assessment and proposal development, regular communication with other agencies, partner organisations and with the Programme Director, the writing of project reports to relevant donors and monthly written reports on all field activities.

NORTH SUDAN: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGERLocation: Based in Khartoum, North Sudan Contract Duration: 18-24 monthsStart Date: Immediate Start Preferred
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to head up our HR function in our Disaster Management Programme in North Sudan (Khartoum). The main purpose of the job is the development and implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures across the programme and the provision of an HR support service to staff. As part of the senior management team, the postholder will be responsible for compliance and adherence to local legal requirements and will advise managers on all areas of recruitment, retention, training and discipline of staff. Other responsibilities include human resource management, staff training and development, personnel related administration, liaising with senior officials of organisations in country of assignment and with management in Tearfund UK. The successful candidate will be competent at working independently and to tight and changing deadlines, under pressure and in difficult circumstances. . Applicants should be educated to degree level with proven professional work practice and have an understanding of relief and development environments. NORTH SUDAN: AREA LOGISTICS OFFICERLocation: Based in Ed Daein, North Sudan Contract Duration: 18-24 monthsStart Date: Immediate Start Preferred
An experienced logistician, is sought to support the critical work of the Disaster Management field team in the Darfur region, North Sudan. Key responsibilities will include the management of logistical functions at the field office, including procurement, asset management, estate management, communications / IT, transport and fleet management, distribution, warehousing and commodity management, managing a team of logistics, security and warehouse staff. Other key components of the role are ensuring all staff in the procurement function understand and follow Tearfund Standard procedures, and that donor restrictions are communicated to and understood by field management and main suppliers. You must be able to prioritise work in a fast-moving environment and work well under pressure. You must be a strong team player, prepared to live in potentially insecure conditions. NORTH SUDAN: Assistant Logistics Manager – Supply Chain Location: Based in Khartoum, North Sudan with frequent travel to DarfurContract Duration: 18-24 monthsStart Date: Immediate Start Preferred
Do you have proven experience in a complex disaster management programme environment in procurement and warehousing? Have you got a track record of success in project implementation and strategic planning? Are you a strong team leader with proven experience in people management combined with excellent training and communication skills?
If so, Tearfund has a great opportunity for you in our North Sudan Disaster Management Programme (based in Khartoum) to provide the supply chain capacity to set-up, implement, manage and co-ordinate the programme’s needs and to co-ordinate and maintain supply chain systems and staff to ensure procurement, transport and storage of goods as required.
As well as the above criteria, successful candidates will have proven driving experience and possess strong skills in negotiation and representation, analysis and problem solving. Applicants will also have a good cross-cultural awareness and a genuine heart for the poor.

DR CONGO: PROGRAMME DIRECTOR
Based in Bukavu, DR Congo To start as soon as possible
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced senior manager and leader to head our operational programme in DR Congo. Tearfund has been implementing relief and rehabilitation projects in Eastern DR Congo since 2002. The programme now has 15 international staff, 150 national staff and an annual turn over of £2.5 million. Projects are implemented in 4 locations, in Watsan, Food Security, School Rehabilitation and Public Health Promotion sectors. We are looking for a Programme Director with proven experience of relief work, and strong leadership and management skills in order to effectively lead the implementation of the programme in accordance with Tearfund’s approach to good practice, policy and strategy. The post has responsibility for developing and outworking the strategy for Tearfund’s operational work in DR Congo, and leading a senior management team responsible for programme implementation, logistics, finance and human resources. Strong experience is required in leadership and people management, budget management, donor relations, and donor proposal development and reporting, and compliance to corporate and donor systems. The post is also responsible for representing Tearfund, liaising and advocating with Government departments, UN bodies, INGOs and local Partners.
The post requires frequent travel to field sites. Applicants will be educated to degree level and must have substantive up-to-date working knowledge of relief environments within an International NGO environment. We require an excellent leader with strong organisational skills, people management, negotiation and representation skills. Excellent written and spoken English is essential, plus good spoken French.
