Run to beat poverty Bristol

Great Bristol Half Marathon

Event date: 23 September 2018    Event location: Bristol    Registration fee: £40

Starting and finishing in Bristol’s historic Harbourside, join over 10,000 runners as you pass by the city’s most recognisable landmarks including the Avon Gorge and Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.

By fundraising with us, you’ll be changing the lives of people living in desperate need – like Birungi, from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

After losing her parents, Birungi missed out on an education in order to look after her younger twin sisters, neither of whom could walk. With no means to provide for her family, Birungi received sewing skills training through a Tearfund partner and now runs her own sustainable business.

£360 could enable five people like Birungi to learn a new skill – restoring hope, dignity and the potential to earn an income.

What you’ll receive from Tearfund:

  • Fundraising pack and dedicated fundraising support
  • Tearfund T-shirt or running vest, plus iron-on letters to customise your kit
  • Tearfund water bottle
  • 10-week half marathon training and nutrition programme
  • Cheering materials for your friends and family including clapper sticks, a T-shirt and balloons
  • A warm Tearfund reception at the finish-line
