Volunteer in Tanzania for one month and see for yourself how the local church and the local community are working together to bring incredible change.

You’ll be supporting the work of our partner, the African Inland Church Tanzania (AICT), who are busy planting and cultivating churches. AICT work through these churches to help local communities to understand their God-given potential and be able to use local resources to meet their needs and bring about change in their communities.

Through church planting, AICT are helping to bring clean water, agricultural training, and health services to rural communities. They’re running self-help groups with women and vulnerable children and organising pastors conferences.

The work is varied and inspirational and is bringing incredible change to communities across Northern Tanzania.

So, are you ready?

A month in Tanzania will both challenge you personally and stretch your faith. You will experience how the local church is at the heart of tackling poverty and injustice and have the chance to show God’s love in practical ways as you visit and learn from inspirational communities.

Who are we looking for?

Individuals who are flexible and adaptable and would love the chance to spend a month living in Tanzania, working in a team, alongside other volunteers and AICT staff.

Swahili is the main language spoken across Tanzania so we’d advise learning a few basic words before you go.

What will you be doing?

  • Visiting the Care for the Children project which works with 3000 vulnerable children
  • Working with women’s self-help groups in local communities
  • Teaching at the local primary and secondary schools
  • Visiting local health clinics and the HIV home-based care programme
  • Sharing your IT skills, to help improve AICT’s staff members IT skills
  • Getting involved in the Church & Community Mobilisation Process (CCMP)
  • Supporting and developing youth programmes including drama, worship and children’s ministries
  • Participating in the life of the local church; attending church services, helping to run discipleship programmes, Bible studies and initiatives with women and young people.
  • There may also be an opportunity to help with church maintenance and construction projects

*Please note…

The cost mentioned above includes pre-departure training, insurance, debrief, a medical package, administrative costs and in-country travel, accommodation and food.
Please note, flights, visas and vaccinations are not included.

It has been amazing, I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to go and the experience was challenging and inspirational.

It was amazing! Definitely the best 3 months of my life. The team was brilliant, the culture was so great and different. The work was fantastic. Spending our time and energy and money on helping others in such a practical way was so rewarding. I really miss it, I wish it had been longer.

We were given the most wonderfful welcome at Wellspring and Tororo. I enjoyed every moment of our visit and it was an experience I will never forget.
