Join in with the work of Tearfund in Zambia this summer and spend a whole month living and learning alongside our partner, Jesus Cares Ministries (JCM)

JCM have a wonderful vision to see a society where the most vulnerable are empowered, and their human rights are protected and promoted.

They work closely with women and children, helping to give opportunities for children to get a good education, for women to earn a decent living and for families to be able to access services so they can stay healthy.

JCM run a Transit Centre which provides a safe place for children who have been rescued from the street and helps them to transition from street life into a restored childhood. They also support 22 community schools, providing education to over 1000 children each year, partnering with local hospitals; providing physical, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families.

So, are you ready?

A month in Zambia will both challenge you personally and stretch your faith. You will experience how the local church is at the heart of tackling poverty and injustice and have the chance to show God’s love in practical ways as you visit and learn from inspirational communities.

‘WOW! What an inspiring, humbling, exciting and incredibly varied experience. I have come away with an excellent overview of the outstanding work of JCM, spending lots of time with the JCM outreach workers on the bus journeys, visiting Self Help Groups. It was a real honour.’ - Anna

Feedback

We spent three days in Kabwe, visiting three Transit schools in the villages surrounding the city. In each school we did an activity that would benefit the children for the first term back in September; from knitting graduation scarves to drawing up posters for displays.
