Tearfund ICS

Placement Overview

Apply now to volunteer overseas!

Tearfund ICS is a VSO led programme, fully funded by the UK Government that gives anyone aged 18-25 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend 12 weeks volunteering abroad in Bangladesh or South Africa

It's an opportunity to experience another culture, challenge yourself and develop transferable skills to bring back with you. The 12 weeks volunteering could be part of post-school or college skills development, or a career break.

You don't need cash, skills or qualifications to take part in Tearfund ICS, just the ambition to make a difference.

On a Tearfund ICS placement you'll work closely with the local church, participate in devotions within your team and enjoy a chance to grow closer to God and develop your faith as you spend time with faith based organisations.

You will get the chance work with our Tearfund partners on projects that have specifically requested the help of ICS teams as part of our wider Tearfund development programme in that community. So there's no doubt your contribution will make a difference.

And you won't be alone - you'll be part of a group from the UK and once you arrive in country, you'll be teaming up with other ICS volunteers from the country you're based in.

This is a great opportunity to learn from each other and share ideas to create a lasting impact. When you return home to the UK, we will support you to carry out a project to share what you've learnt and to encourage others to take action against poverty.

ICS is for 18-25 year-olds. But we're looking for fantastic, Christian team leaders. So if you're 23-35, why not apply?

We have ICS placement's departing throughout the year – Spring, Summer and Autumn. Make sure you apply at least two months before the departure month to ensure you get a place.
