Strength in the face of disaster
Your church’s support will be life-saving for people like Juliet.
A proud mother of two, and carer for her sick husband, Juliet is known as a pillar of her community. But it’s a community in peril.
Juliet lives in Bangladesh – one of the most densely populated and disaster-prone countries in the world. Low-lying and in the path of monsoons and cyclones, flooding is common. And it’s become more common. And more severe.
‘Disaster is always with us,’ Juliet says. ‘We are living with it and trying to manage our livelihoods. Disaster is making us financially poor. We are falling behind. With all our might, we cannot move forward.’
Our local church partner is working to equip Juliet’s community with the tools and techniques they need to adapt. These include more resilient housing, early warning systems, and training in disaster preparation skills like emergency first aid – providing the ability to be ready and safe when disaster strikes.
Poverty isn’t God’s plan. You are. Your church’s gift will make life-saving work like this possible all around the world. Please download our Christmas Appeal resources today to use in your Christmas services. It will make a huge difference to people like Juliet.
In Northern Ireland only, until 31 December, thanks to the generosity of SPAR, EUROSPAR, ViVO and ViVOXTRA, your church’s gift will be doubled up to a total of £200,000!
