Break the cycle of poverty this Christmas
Malich and her family live in northern Kenya. Traditionally, communities like Malich’s have relied on livestock farming to survive, but continuous cycles of droughts and floods mean that is no longer possible. Animals have died, wells have run dry, and temperatures are soaring. Hunger is a constant threat.
Stuck in a cycle
Families like Malich’s must search for water, or rely on water trucks to refill tanks which they eke out little by little, while they survive on little more than wild fruit to eat. And it’s often the women who bear the brunt of this, walking tens of kilometres in search of jerry cans of water, or fruit to pick, which leaves them vulnerable to attacks while they seek to keep their families alive.
