What will happen on 12 November
On 6 November, COP27 will get underway in Egypt. COP stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’, and it’s the United Nations’ annual summit where governments of almost every country meet to negotiate a coordinated global response to climate change. In November 2021, the UK hosted the 26th annual UN climate talks – known as COP26 – in Glasgow. This year, the baton passes to Egypt.
In the middle of COP27, on Saturday 12 November, Tearfund will be joining mobilisations across the country, marching for climate justice on the Global Day of Action. So, grab a yellow heart-shaped, recyclable placard from us, and let’s pray and march together.

Tearfund will have an organised presence at the marches in London, Cardiff and Belfast. Not near any of those locations? Head over to the main COP27 mobilisation page to find other locations near you. New marches are being added each week so check back in frequently.
Belfast
In Belfast we will be joining with Christian Aid, meeting at 11.30am at the front of Belfast City Hall, Donegall Square, BT1 5GS (inside the gates) to pray together before the march starts. Look out for yellow placards if you can't see us! From there, we will join the march, which will start at 12pm at Cornmarket and end at City Hall. Contact lauren.agnew@tearfund.org if you’re planning to come along.
London
In London we’ll meet at St John’s Waterloo, SE1 8TY, at 11.30am to pray and pick up placards. Tearfund staff will be in yellow t-shirts, and there will also be other faith organisations joining us, so we can walk together as people of faith. About 12pm we’ll all head over to the Shell Centre on the South Bank to hear some speakers, then the march will start at 1pm. The current plan is for the march to finish at 2.30pm in Trafalgar Square, where there will be another speakers rally. The whole event will finish by 4pm.
Cardiff
In Cardiff we’ll meet at Eglwys Dewi Sant, St Andrew's Crescent, CF10 3DD at 11am to pray and pick up placards. Look out for our Tearfund staff in yellow t-shirts! From there we’ll join the main march at City Hall at 12pm. We’ll finish up at Central Square with a speakers’ rally at 1.30pm.
We hope to see you there. Please take pictures of the march too and let us know how you get on! If you have any questions or photos, email us on campaigns@tearfund.org
