Every donation will save lives

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is in crisis. Decades of bitter conflict, combined with disease outbreaks and natural disasters, have forced more than 5 million people from their homes – including 3 million children.

People like Dheve, who have had to flee violence, are now living in temporary camps. It can be a struggle for them to get even the most basic essentials, such as food and clean water.

The recent volcanic eruption in Goma is yet another terror that people have had to endure, causing a wave of devastation in eastern DRC. Thousands of people have lost everything they own.

The DRC is currently one of the hardest places to live in the world. But every donation to this appeal will help us reach more people with practical help and spiritual hope in Jesus’ name.

Every moment counts. Please give what you can today.

People like Dheve have suffered enough

Dheve, and others like her, have experienced horrors no one should have to go through. When she was 16, Dheve was kidnapped and raped by an armed militia group, leading to her first pregnancy.

A few years later, fighting broke out in her village and her uncle and sister-in-law were both killed. Dheve fled and says she can never return: ‘I have lost many members of my family. I have so many bad memories of that place.’

Now Dheve and her four children live in a camp. She has no way of earning an income, cannot provide enough food for her family, and her children are missing out on vital education.

You can make a difference today

Your support could make all the difference for people like Dheve. Tearfund is providing clean drinking water, handwashing stations, emergency toilets and hygiene awareness for people living in the camps.

We’re helping people get back on their feet by providing farming tools and training through our local partner, as well as seeds to grow their own food.

This work can only happen with the support of people like you. Please donate today and give hope to people who have had so much taken from them.

Poverty is not God’s plan. You are. Please continue to pray for peace across the DRC.
