The climate crisis is making it even harder for people living in poverty to survive.
Abigael, a farmer from Burkina Faso, was used to abundant rains. But after months and months of drought, she had no more crops to sell. She was unable to feed her family or pay the school fees for her youngest son.

There are millions of people like Abigael – 80 per cent of people in Burkina Faso rely on growing crops for both food and an income. But when weather conditions make it harder to grow crops, families are forced to go without. A prolonged drought, made worse by the climate crisis, has pushed many families to the brink of survival.
