Will you help even more people like Mary rebuild?
For years, conflict and a changing climate have ravaged South Sudan. As a result, extreme poverty continues to devastate people and communities. People have lost homes and livelihoods.

Stories like Mary’s aren’t unique to South Sudan. Extreme poverty affects vulnerable communities around the world. But this doesn’t have to be the case.
Your gift could help even more people like Mary around the world to rebuild their lives and transform their communities.

To respond to the needs of communities like Mary’s in South Sudan, we developed Transforming Communities, an innovative programme run through local churches to tackle extreme poverty.
We believe it’s possible to end extreme poverty by training local churches to lead lasting change by recognising the God-given resources in and around us. This supports communities to rewrite their own stories and rebuild their lives, creating a future filled with hope and opportunity.

Mary is one of more than 4 million people displaced from their homes in South Sudan.
After losing her husband in 2016, food became scarce and civil war escalated around her. With five children, Mary fled to neighbouring Uganda.
In 2020, Mary returned home to find her huts burnt down.
Then, she discovered that her local church offered Transforming Communities training. God had put everything in place for her to thrive, not just survive.
She learnt about farming, saving income, and the God-given resources in and around her.
‘Thanks to the training, I’m now independent. I identified one of the God-given resources around me as the soil to make bricks. Then, I decided to lay bricks and fire them myself.’ Mary
Through the local church, Mary was able to rebuild. But there are millions of people like Mary in South Sudan and beyond.
Give today and your donation could help transform communities like Mary’s around the world.
