Life turned dark for Marie

Marie’s husband died in a landslide caused by floods that swept through her region in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). She is now raising her children alone. ‘Now life has turned dark for me with the whole family,’ Marie told us. ‘The day of the floods, my husband died and we lost everything. The children ran away in different directions.’

For families like Marie’s in the DRC, suffering is being compounded by crisis upon crisis – armed conflict, climate shocks, widespread displacement and cholera outbreaks declared across six provinces.

The suffering around the world right now is hard to comprehend. Yet, the church is continuing to transform communities where the need is greatest.

Five humanitarian crises still unfolding

In Myanmar, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck on 28 March, killing nearly 4,000 people.
In the DRC, conflict and climate shocks have left more than 21 million people in desperate need.
