The building's closed but please come in

Prayer. Worship. Encouragement. Sharing information. Keeping in touch. Reaching out. Reaching up. Sometimes laughing. The odd tear. Building faith. Lifting eyes, hands and hearts. Focusing on who we serve.

Prayer. Worship. Encouragement. Sharing information. Keeping in touch. Reaching out. Reaching up. Sometimes laughing. The odd tear. Building faith. Lifting eyes, hands and hearts. Focusing on who we serve.

Lots of people joined us for our first online prayer and worship gathering in April and now we're getting ready for another one on Thursday 25 June at 7pm. We’d love to invite you to be a part of it.

In times when the world is less weird (although isn’t it always a bit weird?), in days when the schedules seem more fixed and the edges of things seem clearer, many of us work in an office. Now our offices have become our sheds, our kitchen tables amidst piles of homeschooling, our living rooms with makeshift desks that arrived in a flatpack or, for one person I know, even a large cupboard.

Meetings take place over cameras. Voices cut in and out. We see the insides of people’s homes and lives in a way we never might have been invited to do before.

Or maybe we no longer need an office. Perhaps we’re facing the strangeness of furlough, or the stress of no longer having a job. In many ways, this virus is a thief.

And yet some things remain.

Our God remains. Our hope in him stays. He doesn’t lose signal and leave us on a blank screen. Or trying to find the link to the meeting we thought we were meant to be in. Or with our purpose put on hold until better times.

One of our regular meetings as Tearfund staff is a weekly prayer and worship time. It’s part of the way we stay focused on our God and on our purpose – and also a time to do all the other things described in the opening above. This meeting would usually be based in the Teddington office with staff in other places joining online, but since we’ve all left the building, we’d love to invite you in.

‘We’d love to invite you in.’

You’ll be able to find the online prayer and worship gathering here. We’ll get started at 7pm (UK time) on Thursday evening 25 June.

We hope you’ll join us as we enter the presence of our God in worship. Be encouraged with us as we hear from Tearfund CEO Nigel Harris. Pray with us as our staff from around the world give us insight into the specific ways we can best do so.

We might not all be in the same boat, but we are in the same storm. Yet our captain is Jesus, and he promised we wouldn’t go through the deep waters without him.

You’re invited to share a piece of this journey with us.

Join us here.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ (John 10:10)
