See for yourself how the local church and the local community are working together to bring about incredible change.

You’ll be supporting the work of the African Inland Church Tanzania (AICT- MUD), partnering with people at the grassroots to tackle poverty together.

AICT’s programmes support people to become self-sufficient and cut the limiting ties of dependency. As a result of AICT’s work there are now affordable medical clinics for local people, and agricultural schemes which enable farmers to increase their yields. Communities that once had no running water not only have a well but are also able to educate their children.

Three months with AICT will see you involved in a range of programmes. You will experience how the local church is at the heart of tackling poverty and injustice, and learn how initiatives such as self-help groups are the key to unlocking potential and bringing change.

What will you be doing?

  • Visiting the Care for the Children project which works with 3000 vulnerable children.
  • Visiting local health clinics and the HIV home-based care programme.
  • Supporting the self-help programme running in local communities.
  • Teaching at the local primary and secondary schools.
  • Supporting and developing youth programmes including drama, worship and children’s ministries.
  • Getting involved in the Church & Community Mobilisation Process (CCMP).
  • Participating in the life of the local church; helping to run discipleship programmes, Bible studies and initiatives with women and young people.
  • Sharing your IT skills, to help improve AICT’s staff members IT skills.
  • There may also be an opportunity to help with church maintenance and construction projects.

What can you bring?

We’re looking for people who are willing to serve where the need is greatest. You’ll need to be flexible, adaptable, and ready to work as part of a team of volunteers, supporting AICT as they empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

Swahili is the main language spoken across Tanzania so it would be helpful to learn a few basic words before you go.

The cost mentioned above includes pre-departure training, insurance, debrief, a medical package, administrative costs and in-country travel, accommodation and food.
