Florence lives in Zimbabwe, where the harsh climate and political unrest are pushing her deeper into poverty. Millions of people like her in Zimbabwe and around the world are in urgent need of help.
Please give now to save lives
Florence is a strong woman. She grew up as an orphan and was married to her first husband at the age of 12. He died, and she married again, but found herself widowed a second time. But today, aged 39, Florence and her three children are still fighting to survive.
A severe drought has meant that Florence hasn’t been able to grow anything on her land for the last two years. Climate change is making droughts like this more common. The family were surviving by breeding chickens to eat and sell for income, but then the birds all died of disease.
‘Now, my only hope is with God,’ says Florence.
In more than 50 countries, Tearfund’s local partners are helping people in poverty survive in the short term, and become more secure in the long term. People like Florence are being equipped with practical Biblical principles that empower them to become self-reliant.
However, the scale of need around the world is vast, and we need your support.
