Tearfund has been working with partners in Chad for many years. It is a beautiful country, but is also a nation beset by many very significant challenges. This week, pray for the people of Chad and for the church as we seek transformed communities and an end to poverty together.
Sunday 26 November
Tearfund’s vision in Chad is to partner with 3,000 churches across the country to see a million people living transformed lives, lifting themselves and their families out of poverty. Only God can achieve this. Pray for Country Director, Ngolsou Keting, and the team as they work together towards this goal.
Monday 27 November
Pray for Alfie, the pastor of a small church outside Kelo, in southern Chad. He has a vision to see his community transformed – and in just a few years he has witnessed real change. His next goal is to build a community health facility. Pray that Alfie and his church might realise this vision and that in the midst of this transformation the church there would thrive.
Tuesday 28 November
When the church in Chad catches a vision of what is possible in its own community, things begin to change. According to Rebecca, Director at one of our partners in Chad, the church grows as people are ‘drawn to church and drawn to Christ’. Pray for Rebecca and all our partners as they work to see real change across Chad.
Wednesday 29 November
Chad has been beset for many decades by internal instability. Pray for stability and peace. Ask God for wise leadership for those in authority and pray against the actions of those who would seek violence. The country is in the midst of a fuel crisis, with extremely high prices and shortages impacting people right across Chad. Pray for those ordinary people impacted the most.
Thursday 30 November
For many years, Chad has been disrupted by violence and conflict on its borders. Now, as thousands of displaced people flee neighbouring Sudan, Chad is again hosting families seeking refuge. Pray for those communities providing shelter and for those fleeing conflict. Pray against local tensions or outbreaks of violence. Most of all, ask God to bring about peace in Sudan.
Friday 1 December
Chad is a country most severely impacted by climate change. The desert is creeping south, eating up land that is arable. Lake Chad, once a vast interior lake, has dried up year after year. For ordinary people, the crops their mothers and fathers grew no longer yield a good harvest, and drought can cause real suffering for millions. Pray for those impacted, and for Tearfund’s partners working to help communities worst impacted.
Saturday 2 December
Pray for Bible colleges and theological institutions across the country as they seek to equip a new generation of church leaders. Tearfund staff regularly support colleges in training leaders in the practice of church-led community change. Pray for these partnerships to bear real and lasting fruit.
