A few months ago, we asked you, our One Voice in Prayer subscribers, to send in some of your own prayers to us. This week we’re happy to share some of these prayers with you. They are all around the theme of asking God to give our staff and volunteers the strength, determination and courage they need to persevere in the face of whatever challenges they face.
Sunday 20 August
From Sylvs: ‘To the teams working to help those in need: May God bless you, strengthen you and give you refreshing sleep and emotional stability, wisdom and courage as you serve him. May your teams share God’s peace and love with those you work with and serve.’
Monday 21 August
From Robert: ‘We pray for people in countries where harvests have failed for years, and for those in countries where floods have swept away homes and livelihoods. We pray too for Tearfund partners and those in similar agencies giving aid and supporting those in such need.’
Tuesday 22 August
From Coryn: ‘Dearest Lord, you know what our hearts crave and you know what is best for us. In your goodness, bring us comfort, peace and the help we need. Bless all those who pour themselves out for their brothers and sisters and bless all that they do. Lord, have mercy on us all. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.’
Wednesday 23 August
From Linda: ‘Thank you so much for being there, for delivering aid in all the ways that you do, to the most needy in desperate situations. I pray you will be surrounded by the Lord’s angels to protect you. So you will know the abiding peace of our Lord always and have wisdom from the Holy Spirit in every circumstance.’
Thursday 24 August
From John: ‘Having worked in the East and Southern Africa Team for 14 years, I know the fantastic work you all do, often in some very difficult situations. I pray that God will bless and strengthen all of you and protect your families when you are away from home. May God bless you, and thank you for all you do!’
Friday 25 August
From EJ: ‘May the favour of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us.’ (Psalm 90:17) ‘I pray that God would pour out his blessings and love upon you for all the great work you do. May he guide you with wisdom and keep you in his perfect peace. Amen.’
Saturday 26 August
From Jane: ‘You are truly fulfilling the words of the Lord through his prophet Micah. You are loving justice and mercy. I pray you will continue to walk humbly with your God, knowing his strength and comfort as you serve poor and needy people. Amen.’
