God is growing his kingdom in Cambodia through the unity and connection of his people. This week, praise God for how he’s building his church in this beautiful country, and pray for the efforts of Tearfund and our local partners to help release people’s God-given potential through our Transforming Communities (also known as CCT) training.
Sunday 7 April
Cambodia has achieved a significant reduction in extreme poverty. However, millions of people remain vulnerable to disasters and crises. Give thanks for our local partners and churches in Cambodia and pray that they will have strength and wisdom as they follow Jesus where the need is greatest.
Monday 8 April
Pastor Sophat took part in our Transforming Communities training and started working with the village chief. Together, they identified four key areas to focus on: animals, vegetables, savings groups and children’s ministry. ‘I’m grateful that the Lord has brought together pastors and leaders from different places to build relationships,’ he says. Thank God for the network that he has given Pastor Sophat to serve the church and his community.
Tuesday 9 April
Pastor Phay was the first person in her village to become a Christian – she was also the only Christian in her family. Thanks to Transforming Communities, she went on to build a church and help set up a savings group and a vegetable garden to share with the community. Pray for many more in her community to come to faith in Jesus and live life to the full.
Wednesday 10 April
Ms Nary has some disabilities and was viewed as a vulnerable person in her community. She was approached to be part of a Transforming Communities training and now feels more confident to use her skills and business acumen. Pray that she would harness her God-given gifts to influence more community members.
Thursday 11 April
Pastor Khimsin overcame a troubled past, built a church and embraced Transforming Communities. He helps his congregation understand that they can use their own resources and unlock the potential within and around them. Pray for continued unity in Pastor Khimsin’s church so that they can have greater impact with the wider community.
Friday 12 April
Tearfund has been working in Cambodia since the 1980s, responding to poverty by addressing its root causes. At the heart of this work is the local church, which is uniquely placed to help release people from physical and spiritual poverty. Pray for unity among the churches in Cambodia and for their leaders to strive to serve their local communities.
Saturday 13 April
Father God, each one of the people we’ve prayed for this week is unique and precious, made in your image and full of potential. Thank you for believers in Cambodia who are making a difference in their churches and communities. We pray that the church will continue to grow and that nothing will stand against it. For your glory, Amen.
