  • There is no registration fee for the event as we are asking you to fundraise for Tearfund instead. Our suggested target is £215 per person - this could train 10 self-help groups of 20 people in business and life skills, equipping them to lift them to lift themselves out of poverty.

    If you are cycling as a group, we recommend setting it to £215 x number of participants.

  • Yes, the cycle is available to 14 - 17yr olds who have parental consent and will be accompanied (on the same route) by the parent/guardian.

  • Yes! We’d love you to involve your friends, family or congregation. Sign up by visiting www.tearfund.org/cyclethecoast and you can sign up as an individual or a team.

  • We recommend using a road bike, but the road quality is such that you should be easily able to complete the route on a hybrid bike. It is essential that you have the basic tools and inner tube replacements to do basic repairs on your own bike.

  • Yes we have a written format of the route that we can provide to you ahead of time on request. The routes will be marked clearly on the day and marshals will be in attendance where required.

  • Yes! There will be a dedicated support team on the day and cyclists will be starting together. Of course, we will be following guidance on social distancing at all times and all elements of the event will be risk-assessed before the event according to the guidance received from the NI Executive. Following the cycle there will be a BBQ lunch provided for everyone taking part in the event.

  • If you’re fundraising through JustGiving then you don’t have to do a thing – JustGiving will send Tearfund the money automatically.

  • In order to reduce the risk of Covid-19 we are currently not supporting paper sponsor forms. Please encourage supporters to donate to your JustGiving page by sending them the link in a text, social media message or email. If this is not possible then please advise supporters to send cheques to Tearfund, stating the event and whom they are supporting.

  • Around the world, people who were already vulnerable are being pushed further into poverty through threats like the Covid-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, and conflict. You will be cycling to bring help and hope to people living in extreme poverty around the world.

Drop us an email or reply to the welcome email you will receive to let us know what inspired you. You’ll receive your personal fundraising pack, with your Tearfund T-shirt and plenty of support as you get ready for your own big day!

  • The start and finish point for Cycle the Coast 2022 is Portstewart Baptist Church, 172-174 Coleraine Road, Portstewart, BT55 7PL. There is car parking available all day. 

    From Coleraine you can take the 140a bus route.
