Tearfund’s annual Big Quiz Night is back on 16 November 2024, and the charity is calling for 500 churches across the country to transform their congregations into quizzers for the night and raise vital funds.
Big Quiz Night is the perfect excuse to gather friends and family together for some friendly competition, while fundraising to fight poverty in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Since 2018, the Big Quiz Night has raised more than £1m to help end extreme poverty around the world. Tearfund provides free ready-made quiz resources so that organisers have everything they need to hold the evening. The quiz pack includes questions suitable for all ages and teams, large or small, as well as social media assets and videos to engage quizzers.
The money raised will support Tearfund’s Transforming Communities programme, helping people like Julius in South Sudan, who listened to Tearfund’s training on Hope FM, a local radio station, and learned how to use new farming methods to earn a steady income.
Julius said: “Without this training, we would still be stuck in our old lifestyle. We had no idea how to transform the soil to produce more. Tearfund’s training has inspired me to discover what is within our environment.”
Tearfund’s Head of Church and Supporter Engagement, Graeme McMeekin said:
“Our annual Big Quiz Night is a perfect opportunity to bring people together and put your knowledge to the test. Now in its seventh year, we want to see 500 churches taking part in our quiz to help support our Transforming Communities programme and bring an end to extreme poverty. This work is vital because it is proven to lead to wide ranging, long term improvements to social and economic wellbeing.”
