“The goal of UK aid should be to advance the cause of eradicating extreme poverty, but the strategy’s focus on aid with strings attached runs the risk that, once again, the needs of the poorest and most marginalised will be overlooked.
“While we welcome the strategy’s stated priorities of tackling the climate crisis and providing humanitarian support, it is disappointing to see that the interests of UK trade are taking precedence over the goal of tackling extreme poverty.”
